At Alourah, we use genuine 925 sterling silver, plated with rhodium- a precious metal known for its brilliance and resistance to tarnish. We use 5A or 8A cubic zirconia stones to closely resemble diamonds in terms of brilliance and appearance. Our sterling silver pieces are stamped with a "925" or "S925" hallmark indicating the 92.5% silver present. The remaining 7.5% is copper since fine (pure) silver is too soft for most practical uses in jewellery. By alloying silver with copper, our skilled artisans can work with the metal more easily, creating intricate and detailed designs.

Gold vermeil (pronounced ver-may) provides a solid gold look without the solid gold price. To be considered vermeil, the layer of solid gold must be at least 2.5 microns thick and it must be plated on sterling silver - another precious metal. This is 5 times more than regular plating.
